Dundee Home For The Holidays Parade 2009 |
The annual Dundee's "Home for the Holidays" Christmas Parade in Downtown Dundee was held December 12, 2009 and was sponsored by the Business Association and VFD. The lineup for the floats took place at 5:45pm at the Dundee High School. At 6:00pm caroling started and lasted until the tree was lit by Village President Tod O'Lone at 6:30. Santa arrived at the end of the parade and then went to the Dundee Township Fire Hall where he gave away bags of treats and listened to children's wish lists for the holiday!
Many families arrived for the annual event and truly enjoyed the evening! The weather was chilly but not that bad with temps in the low 30's
Prior to the start of the parade: The River of Life Community Church hosted a live nativity scene in the heart of Dundee. This year the Leadership Team decided to expand the live nativity to include a view of ancient Bethlehem, with shepherds, roman soldiers, census takers, a bakery, a rope-making shop, a mosaic shop, family pictures, & carolers In addition, the first 100 families to visit the Night in Bethlehem received a small wooden keepsake nativity set. This year the event took place in the parking lot next door to the church, instead of in Triangle Park as in years past. This made it much easier and safer to view the presentation.
